‘What’s inside, is outside’

During my stay in Norway I started experimenting with making paper pulp. A technique which suited my research into the destruction of images very well. One of the ideas that came to mind was to take old prints of mine, which were either damaged or not suited for presentation and to blend them all together in order to create a new frame with the remains.

For me the significance of this work in relation to my other works lies within the idea that a printed image is always bordered, and that photographs are always the culmination of decisions made within a certain frame. The image thus only exists within its own borders. Looking at this work we don’t even see an image at all, not in the destroyed paper print, yet vague remains might be spotted, nor the space within the frame. This space is empty, or should I say, filled with the real. We still view the world through images, even here.
