‘Disembodied incarnation’
This work was made during a residency for Localize in Potsdam, Germany.
The trunk was dug out by hand over a course of three weeks. During the excavation a piece of a WO-II bomb was found. It was not a live bomb luckily, but a part of the park where the tree was located had to be closed during the day. Article
The work consists of a tree trunk, its roots laid bare, the earth dug up around it. The trunk itself was cut in half vertically, created two sides. One side of the trunk was then cut loose from the ground and placed on top of the other half, creating an impression of a fold. The tree now folded in on itself like a book, its content concealed.
